It's very likely I got a Monday morning unit, and that these are adequate machines for the home office or student.but I can't recommend it based on my experience.Photo 964 Dell™ Photo All-In-One Printer 964 Owner’s Manual Look Inside For: The printer is nosy when loading a page, but the print process is quiet. The printer still works, and prints well.but not great. Overall, the manufacturing quality seems awful.
Trying to tap it loose caused the glass scanning surface to break. Once replaced, the printer's scanner malfunctioned - the scanner head was jammed.
Dell cartridges are tweaked just enough that they are suposedly proprietary.you have to order from them. The printer would not recognize the color carttidge at setup and had to be replaced by Dell. Unlike HPs, the software for Lexmark is much much less memory intensive. (Dell uses Lexmark for their printers, allegedly.) The printer hooked up fine, and the software loaded quickly. The price on eBay was right for the printer so I decided to replace my older Lexmark AIO inkjet printer. I purchased the Dell 964 becaue I need an all-in-one unit that doesn't take up to much space.
